Wat is this LCOS ???
Liquid Crystal on Silicon, LCoS, is a new display technology that is now making its grand entrance into the HDTV marketplace...Of course, LCoS isn’t really brand new because it’s been under development for more than a decade, and JVC has actually been shipping high-end professional front projectors with this technology since 1998...It’s also been a very difficult technology to perfect and quite a few companies have either given up or gone bankrupt trying.
LCoS provides the highest resolutions, the highest non-CRT Contrast Ratios, and the most artifact-free images of any display technology. For people who are sensitive to flicker and eye-fatigue, LCoS operates at the highest refresh rates (120 Hz) for the smoothest most flicker-free images..
Want to know about the brand names !!!!!!!!!!
Thomson produced the first commercial LCoS HDTV in 2001, followed by Toshiba and then Philips, but all of them had dropped out by October 2004. Intel shook the industry in January 2004 by announcing that it would begin manufacturing LCoS panels but then abandoned the project in October 2004 before anything was shipped.
The second generation of LCoS began with JVC followed by Sony and then Brillian...
Wanna c the comparison between all the 5 technologies ..

Dual Layer DVD
With the introduction of dual-layer DVD+R technology comes the next important milestone in the drive to continually improve and expand the optical data storage options available to consumers..
It will benefit from the additional storage capacity of the DVD+R disc as it will enable users to record 4 hours of DVD-quality video or 16 hours of VHS-quality video, without the need to turn over the disc !!!!!!
Users will be able to archive up to 8.5 Gbytes of computer files on a single disc, which almost doubles the storage capacity compared with the 4.7Gbytes for the single-layer DVD+R discs currently available ...
Working of Dual Layer Dvd -------
The dual-layer DVD+R system uses two thin embedded organic dye films for data storage separated by a spacer layer.
Heating with a focused laser beam irreversibly modifies the physical and chemical structure of each layer such that the modified areas have different optical properties to those of their unmodified surroundings.
This causes a variation in reflectivity as the disc rotates to provide a read-out signal as with commercially pressed read-only discs.
Wat else are we waiting for ??????
